History

Albertson’s began as a single grocery store in Boise, Idaho and formed into a large chain of stores with their own in-house brand that they contracted with outside manufacturers to produce exclusively for their stores. In the case of crayons, Albertsons developed a line of inexpensive wax crayons called “Sav-On Osco” and carried them in their stores. They didn’t actually start selling their own crayon line until the 1990s.
