History

Baignol & Farjon was founded in 1850 by an industrialist that modeled the company after English metallic writing feather factories.  By 1870 they were producing pencils as their primary focus.  The company passed from founder Francois Lebeau to his son-in-laws in 1875.  As one of his son-in-laws was Ferdinand Farjon, the company changed their name to baignol & Farjon in 1977.  They took this change opportunity to and establish itself in Paris.  The company eventually passed down to their sons and grandsons.  They went from only offering six types of items in 1920 to having over 500 by the 1970s.  Eventually Bic bought them in 1979.  Along the way, they did so some crayon items in addition to their pencils products.
