Berkson Bros.
Chicago, IL
1910s - early 1960s

History

I wasn't successful in researching when Berkson Bros. began or ended but later a family member of the brothers emailed me to let me know that they started sometime before WWI and ended around the late 1950s or early 1960s with the death of the last brother.  They were located on 63rd street near Halstead in Chicago.  I did trace their initial crayon product back to their trademark in 1938.  Their symbol was a little different initially so they must have filed a subsequent version that I wasn't able to find.  They applied their trademark to a wide variety of school and office products at the time.  Judging from the box itself, it would appear that the crayons were made for them by another manufacturer which is also unknown.
