History

I couldn't find the early history of when Chatfield-Clarke Company first opened their doors but it looks to be in the 1920s or 1930s in New York, NY.  In 1938 they patented their Plus Lite line of grease crayons designed for blackboards.  The company ended up getting bought out by the Leehman Bros. at some point and they in turn sold the company to a private investor out of Fontana, CA in 1964.  They continued doing the grease crayons until around 1970.  The company is still in operation haven't done any crayon related products since 1970.  The Woodbury, CT reference on the box is actually the manufacturing source which wasn't owned by Chatfield-Clarke at all.  They simply contracted out their patented crayons and then applied the labels and shipped out the product.
