History

Creston Crayon was founded in 1934 as Creston Candle Works Inc by B. Irving Berson. He passed away in July of 1959. He had passed the business on to his son, Dudley Berson but he died suddenly in Sep 1967 at the age of 46 while working at the company. They were in New York from 1934 until April 1964 when they moved their entire operations to Passaic, NJ at l00 8th Street.†† They produced a number of different lines of crayons during their years in business along with other school supply products and toys.Their main line was the Creston brand but they also produced crayons under the Buster Brown Shoe name and Park Avenue. There were likely many others although they haven't surfaced to date.

This was a family run company and when the founderís son passed away in 1967 his wife sold the company to RoseArt Industries.
