History

The Ed-U-Cards Company was originally located in Long Island City, New York around 1946 as a manufacturer of educational flash cards and card games.  One of their off-shoot products was a box of crayons based on a popular children's TV show, The Pinky Lee Show, that ran from 1954 to 1955 when Pinky Lee collapsed on air and never returned.  Ed-U-Card didn't make any other crayon products after that but they continued with their other products until Binney & Smith (now Crayola) bought them in 1959.  They kept the Ed-U-Card name until their own merger in 1984 with Hallmark when that business was dropped and sold off to another toy manufacturer.
