Edward E. Babb & Co.
Boston, MA
1880s - 1940s

History

Edward E. Babb & Co. were catalog suppliers for schools going back as early as the mid to late 1880s.  They also put their name on "house" products that they had produced by other companies.  In the case of crayons, they contracted with Binney & Smith (now Crayola) to sell their line of Boston Pressed Crayons under the Babb's name.  They produced only two examples in the late 1910s; one using the Boston name and one replacing it with the Babb name.  Crayola didn't do a lot of contracts like this but the Boston crayon seems to show up a lot more frequently than  the one without it for some reason.
