History

F. Chambers was incorporated on October 16, 1915 in Stableford, UK.  The company was established by Fred Chambers who was the foundry manager at Stanton Iron Works and Mr. Brown who was a timber merchant from Nottingham.  They added in a Chemist with a working knowledge of pencil making, Professor Hinchley.

They were speculating that with the coming of WWI there would likely be a shortage of pencils since the majority were imported to England.  They incorporated and then moved into an old lace factory at Stapleford, Nottingham.  They were successful and though the years expanded to not just pencils but also crayons, pastels and coloring chalks.

They were one of the listed exhibitors during both 1922 and 1929 (and most likely all years in between but I couldn't find any documentation).

In 1953 they produced a special coronation pencil for Queen Elizabeth.

In 1973 they moved the factory to Sandiacre, Derbyshire.

In March of 1991 they were bought out by German based Lyra Company.

There is currently only one known surviving crayon product from this company.
