1997 was such a monumental year for changes that I broke up the year into several parts and at the end of those parts combined all of the changes on the revised color list.

Hallmark Entertainment Presents

With Hallmark as Crayolaís parent company, they were able to take advantages of opportunities they wouldnít have previously. One of those was to partner with Hallmark Entertainment by creating special crayons put into a generic 4-color box and then added to the clam-shell video cases as a special attraction for the childrenís videos Hallmark had launched.

Hallmark did a series of childrenís cartoon videos but only a few of these had crayons and even fewer of those had color names created specifically to tie in with the show.

By using their existing generic 4-color box with new color names for the crayons, it created a bit of a misleading indicator as to when these crayons were made because the boxes were several years older; having been taken from their stock inventory.Youíll find 1992 copyright dates on the boxes but the crayons are from 1997; same as the copyrights for the videos themselves.

The Ugly Duckling

The Ugly Duckling contained four unique color names associated with the characters in the show.
